Go Green Tips To Save You Money

TIPS

Household Cleaners: Many household cleaners are loaded with toxic substances which are harmful to our environment and very expensive to use.  As I always say,” just because its more money doesn’t make it better”.

You can make your own cleaning product using only natural ingredients.  Did you know that exposure to cleaning products on the market may reduce your lung function and increase the rick of asthma by 40%?  Its easier and cheaper to make your own cleaner!

Get a spray bottle or an old jelly jar (that you’ve been saving for who knows how long) and mix 80% water, 10% clear vinegar, and 10% baking soda together and shake it up really good.  You now have the best cleaner that is the cheapest at cost, the mixture is not toxic, and is safe for our environment.

Consuming Less Gas While Driving: With gas prices going up every week, you can save money by using less gas.  And by using less gas is better for our environment.  Turn your car off when you are not using it.  In the old days you would leave the car running because your waiting to pick up someone or you leave your car running for a few minutes just to pick up something.  Shut it down!  You cannot afford to run your motor while burning up that expensive gas.  Remember, its not one dollars a gallon anymore!

Don’t push the gas peddle all the way down.  Most modern vehicles have a couple of inches of space at the bottom of the gas pedal range.  It does not increase your speed but it does waste more gas by spraying wasted gas into your engine.  So don’t “floor-it”. When your driving your vehicle on the parkway, drive at 55 mph to save your consumption of gas.  Just pretend like you’re driving with an egg under the pedal.

The AC in your car can consume a greater amount of gas when you run it.  Just shut it down after the car is cool and open your windows.  The longer your AC is down, the more gas you save.

The Old Brick Trick:You can save water by taking a brick and placing the brick inside your toilet tank.  The tank will now use less water because you have the brick using up space inside the tank. By using the “old brick trick”, you can save about 1/3 of a gallon every time you flush.

Also shut the water tape off while your brushing you teeth.  Taking a shorter shower instead of a bath will save you gallons of water each time you do this.

Save Money By Saving Electricity: Replace your burnt-out light bulb with a more efficient energy star bulb.  They may look funny (like a twisted up bulb) but using these bulbs can save you electricity, while saving you money on your utility bills.

I want you to count how many appliances, consoles, and other gadgets that are plugged into a electrical outlets in your home.  You would not believe the number.  We have become a society that is dependent on electricity.  Televisions, radios, all types of charges, lamps, video equipment, electrical equipment, appliances, lights, AC units etc.  And the list goes on an on, all dependent on electricity.  What can we do?

Unplug them!  If you don’t use it for most of the day, unplug them.  These items are still using electricity,  even if your not using it at the time.  We can call this the “vampire power”, where these non-essential appliances are using some amount of electric that amounts to about 20% of your monthly utility bills.  What is your monthly electric bill?  Take off 20%, this is the amount you can save each and every month.  Its a lot of money, I know.  Buy a power strip switch and plug your television and video games and gadgets onto it.  When your not using it, shut it down.  Unplug your non-essential appliances in the kitchen when not in use, and begin to save money and electric in your home.
